Ah ha! So he IS sick! I called it I am good (doing a victory dance) lol. You are very good at writing sick stories but I hope to God right now it's not too sad. I am going to a funeral in a couple of minutes and have been to 3 rosaries 2 funerals and one condolance already this week.

Author's Response: Thanks! Yeah, this is another one of those. Without saying too much, this one does get sad - just so you've been warned. I hope you'll keep reading, but if not, I understand.

Hm nice comic relief there but I am curious if Mr. Carter is sick and hidding it. But then why would he need Cary? Well I am off to read more to find out:D

Author's Response: Hm, could be! ;) You'll find out if you're right in the next chapter. Thanks, Anita!

Author's Response: Good question! Thank you!! Glad it still holds up!

Wow that is so not the Nick Carter I remember from fan fics before. I really like what you have done with this second chapter. I know you asked to wait til after chapter five but I must say, I like this story a lot already

Author's Response: A lot of people have commented that Nick seems different in this story than others. There may be a reason, as you'll find out later, but I think I just tried to write him as more mature than in older stories. I'm glad you're enjoying the story so far! Thanks!!

I am heartbroken that Nick died and never had a chance to see Theo. But in a way I am happy that Cary had moved on and happy with her family now. I am glad that the Camp Nick wanted was already operational and started helping kids that goes thorugh what Nick experienced.

I love this story because even though it was really sad, it was beautifully written. I loved how the romance of Nick and Cary blossomed. It wasn't like Nick met Cary and fell instantly head over heels with her. Up to now I still feel Nick didn't really loved Cary that much. I know at some point he really did loved her but not the way she loved him.

Despite the sadness and heartbreaking stuff in this story, rest assured this will not be forgotten. I will definitely re-read this after a while and reminisce the love story of Nick and Cary.

Thank you, Julie, for sharing your talent with us. You did an amazing job.

Author's Response: Thanks so much for this review, Ritz! I knew Nick was going to die in this one, but I love happy endings, so I wanted to at least make this one bittersweet, instead of only sad. The camp and Cary finding happiness helped do that. I think you're exactly right about Nick and Cary. Theirs wasn't a fairy tale romance. It was complicated the whole way through, and even though Cary loved Nick, she's probably better off married to someone who loves her back the same way. I'm so glad you loved the story, despite how sad it was, and I'm glad to see you say you'd like to reread it someday. Thanks for your feedback along the way; I appreciate it!!!

Author's Response: Thank you! Aww, as much as I love miracles and happy endings, I had to stick to what was realistic in this one. I'm glad you liked it anyway. Thanks for the review and the compliments!

oh I forgot to ask, any new stories coming in the near future? Hopefully a story with this kind of genre (romantic/bsb related) because you're good at it and I'm not really a fan of alternate universe, horror and so on haha...

Author's Response: Probably won't start anything new anytime soon; I have too many works in progress already. Song for the Undead is my top priority now... which is probably not your cup of tea because it's horror/AU LOL. After that, Guilty Roads or Secrets of the Heart. Once I finish some things, then I'll dig into my idea pool again and see what I can come up with. Drama/angst with a hint of romance is my favorite genre to write, so I'm sure I'll do another story like this in terms of genre eventually. Thanks for asking! :)

I knew she'd have Nick's child, & I'm glad that she did. Also glad her husband doesn't mind either. THere had to be a little Nick running around somewhere in the world. Nick's spirit deserves to live on forever, as he's special. Even if us fans only ever get to see a small piece of it, his spirit is still very special.

I'll miss this story. Won't miss the ending (too damn sad-lol), but I will miss how Nick was in this story. All his quirks & pranks & just picturing his beautiful smile. Thanks for the great story!

~Lenni~

Author's Response: I'm glad she did too; at least there was a silver lining. I agree, there had to be a mini-Nick running around somewhere in the world. At least a part of him lived on. Thanks so much for reading and reviewing throughout the story, Lenni. I know it was a hard one to read at times, but I really appreciate it, and I'm glad you enjoyed the story. Thank you!!

A bittersweet ending, as I expected. Personally, I like picturing the Boys and their families in the future, as their families start, expand, and mature. I'm glad that Camp Carter is thriving and serving its purpose the way Nick intended.

I feel like this story has helped me come to terms with my own grief over the loss of my uncle when I was 9 in January 2000. He had brain cancer, but died from meningitis. We were extremely close and I didn't realize until years later that he was like a second father to me, though he had children of his own, my two cousins. Sadly, I only remember 3-4 years of those 9 with him, with select memories before then. I'll have to ask my aunt about looking at some tapes from back in the day - she brought her video camera out and recorded everyone during the holidays. I'm pretty sure she recorded some of my uncle's last Christmas in 1999.

I wish he was still here to see to see my cousins grow up into their adult years. They were 17 and 13 when he died. To see Bobby graduate high school, both of their college graduations, Bobby's marriage. I know he'd be so proud of them.

I wish he was here to help me through everything that was to happen after his death. Maybe he was someone I could have gone to for advice or just a listening ear. Of course, these are all just "what ifs" that I think about once in a while.

Sorry about that. Anyway...thanks so much for this story, Julie. Truly brilliant work. It has touched me in a way I never thought it would. A Nick story has to be good for me to read it and this is, I was never disappointed in your work and effort. Keep doing your thing and I'll be on the look-out for your next story. Thank you, again.

Author's Response: Thanks so much for all your reviews for this story, MA! I know it was a hard one to read at times, but I'm glad it helped you come to terms with your own grief. I'm sorry for your loss. That must have been tough, to lose someone that was like a father to you when you were so young. I just lost a friend to cancer, and what bums me out the most is thinking of the husband and young children she left behind. That is the worst. Anyway, thanks again for the feedback. It means the world to me that you enjoyed the story so much, not even being a Nick girl. Stay tuned for more stories to come!

This is too sad, especially since my dog just died, as you know, Julie. One last chapter to go...

Author's Response: Aww, I know, I'm sorry. :( Thanks for reading anyway. The last chapter isn't as sad.

What a chapter. Wow. The last scene with the tour bus/venue reminds me of Dr. Greene in ER walking through the empty ER in "On the Beach". Gotta keep reading...

Author's Response: Aww, thanks! I did watch that episode last week for inspiration, but I'd already thought of the last scene. It just felt fitting of Nick and the whole theme of this story, of how important music and performing was to him.

I made it through the other two chapters without ONE damn tear dude. This was the one where I finally cracked and they started falling! JWYTK is what did it. I love the first line of this chapter too, it "bookends" it so well. At least Nick lives on in his son, even if he'll never know him in life. I'm glad Cary got a happy ending of sorts, after everything, she deserves it more than anyone (except Nick lol). Amazing story ZDR. But, of course I never expected anything less :)

Author's Response: Aww, I made you cry! Score! LOL The lyrics to JWYTK fit this SO well! And I love how I could have this last chapter parallel the first one. You know that despite my love of angst and SPP, I like a good happy ending, so I was glad to at least be able to make this last chapter bittersweet and give Cary some happiness in the end. I'm glad you liked it. Thanks so much for your support and opinions throughout the story, ZDR! SPP!!! :)

My heart broke with this chapter ZDR. Poor Cary, I can't imagine the pain she's going through. He did turn her life upside down, but I don't think she'd change it for anything. Howie's call was practically a godsend though, it helped remind her that Nick left her with a purpose, if nothing else.

Author's Response: Aww, I know. :( Thanks for your thoughts, ZDR!!
