What a great ending to an amazing story! You are a very talented writer and I really love this story! I am so happy Cary found love and happiness with Tom, and of course that she had her son, a gift from Nick, ensuring that Nick will always be a part of her life! I am so glad that they got the camp up and running for Nick, what a great legacy to leave behind!

Yep, still crying here! I'm glad Howie called her though about the camp. I think building this camp in honor of Nick will really help the guys and Cary out with dealing with his death.

Okay, so I feel dumb because I saw last night right before I went to bed that CC had been updated, but I didn't realize the update was three chapters long. So I sleepily read chapter 88 and went to bed really confused, thinking "Wow, that's a weird place to end the story."
I'm glad that I woke up this morning and decided to read it again! The ending was beautiful. Chapter 89 was so sad and perfect. I'm glad that Nick could feel them all there with him in prayer in his last dying moment, and I'm glad that Cary finally got her happy ending, even though it wasn't the one that I would have wanted for her.
One question, though--whatever happened to Cary's dad?! We don't hear what happened to him ten years later :P
Anyway, amazing story, amazing journey, amazing ending. Thank you, Julie! I can't wait to hopefully gush to you about how much I love CC in person on the cruise?
Author's Response: Aww, sorry! I tried to post the three chapters as quickly as I could so that wouldn't happen, but you must have gone to bed right before I got 89 and 90 up. I wanted to post them all in one update because I didn't want to kill Nick and then make you wait a week for more LOL. I'm glad you came back and found the rest this morning! Glad you liked the ending, too. Thanks so much! I assume Cary's dad is alive and well and still living in IL, too far away to be there in the last chapter. I guess I could have mentioned him, but it never came up. Anyway, thank you, thank you, thank you for all your kind words! You'll probably embarrass me by gushing about CC in person, but I guess I could do the same for you with On Nightingale Hill (and beg you for more updates!), so yes, definitely! You're right..it wasn't easy to read these last few chapters as I'm sure they weren't very easy to write, but you did it beautifuly, as always.
Again, your story has filled me with so many emotions, you managed to fit them all in there again, just like with Broken/BMS, but in a different way this time. You said you didn't want CC to be like those stories; you succeeded, in some ways, in others, you parellelled them which is a good thing, trust me. The rollercoaster ride you took us on with this story was an AMAZING ride, with the ending that can't be any more perfect. I'm happy you added how Cary went on in life, got married and had a mini-me of Nick that will continue on his heritage.
I've always said you went into the wrong profession...altho I'm sure you're a great teacher, your knack for storytelling is an unbelieveable talent you possess. The emotions you stir in your readers, the smallest detail, the feeling of seeing the whole thing unfold before your eyes like you are standing right there watching it happen..that is what I meant by it parellelling to Broken/BMS. Tho some parts brought me back to that story, they also brought back the same emotions and memories for me.
I'm sorry to see this story end but also look forward to your next endevors. Great, GREAT job once again Julie! :) Thank you!

I knew from the beginning that Nick was going to die, but I love happy endings, so I wanted to find a way to make this one at least bittersweet. The camp and the baby did that... The "dream" sequence here is PERFECT. I would like to think this is the way it will happen for him, all the memories of doing what he did best in life, making others happy, gifting them with the sound of his voice, making people laugh, letting them forget about their own worries for a time, being surrounded by the people that loved him best. That was the perfect way for him to go....

I came up with that last sequence in the shower a couple weeks ago... and wrote the last few lines, about the stage and the spotlight, on my shower wall in bathtub crayons. Yep... I killed Nick on my shower wall LOL. I thought it was the perfect way to go, too; I'm so glad it turned out right. It fit the whole theme of this story and shows how important singing and performing for the people who loved him was to him. Thanks again, Jen!

Oh Lord... it's a good thing you warned me to get the Kleenex! I was doing okay until I got to the Charlotte's Web part and then, tears :( You are doing an amazing job writing such a beautiful tear jerking story!

I've got to admit, these last couple of chapters were hard to read. No story has ever done this to me, I'm a wreck! But Julie, what an amazing story and so realistic too. Because let's face it, this really does happen and not all stories have a happy ending in real life. You have made us laugh, cry and have kept us all completely hooked on this story from start to finish. I'm glad Cary got her happy ending eventually, she deserved it.

I love happy endings, but I knew this story wasn't going to get one. I tried to make the last chapter bittersweet, at least, but it's not a perfect happily ever after ending. Unfortunately, like you said, that's the reality in so many cases. I'm glad you liked the story so much, despite how sad it got, and thank you for sticking with it the whole way through and reviewing every chapter. I think the way you've described all of their feelings and reactions is very real. Such an awful disease but I'm glad he didn't suffer too much pain, I'm also glad his life wasn't prolonged, because it was no life in the end. So heartbreaking. I'm crying and look like a red puffy mess as I type! But I'm glad something will be done with the camp, it will give them all something positive to focus on.
Author's Response: Thanks! It is horrible. I think everyone realized there was no point in trying to prolong his life, because as you said, it was no life in the end, and it wouldn't have lasted much longer, anyway. What happened was inevitable. As heartbreaking as these last few chapters were, I tried to make the very last chapter uplifting, with the camp. I needed this whole thing to have a point, so it wasn't just a total downer.
