Nick is in such a hard place right now. I know what he wants but I think he is just afraid to face things on his own...that's why he needs Cary so bad. I do think he loves her but is afraid to hurt or disappoint her. I want to hug him so bad right now :( great chapter :)

Again you made me cry but it was so worth it. I would love to see Cary get pregnant & Nick live long enough to see the baby born. That way she will have part of him with her after he is gone. I am kind of wanting this to end like The Sopranos did. Where we never know when he dies. I just know that will be sad and epic. You talent astounds me. Please keep it up.

GO Brian for actually bringing it up! Someone needed to and I think Brian would've been the best for it. Nick needs to think about what's doing. I mean, I get why he's being a selfish ass, but he needs reminders that he IS one. So at least he gave her another chance to leave, even if he knew she wouldn't go for it. I also love the last line, it really drives the theme between the two of them home. SPP All The Way! Love it ZDR. Which, you already know, but I had to say it again. :)
Author's Response: Thanks! I'm glad you liked that conversation; I was glad to get it in there, too. It was nice to clarify Nick's feelings for once, even if he still hasn't exactly clarified them to Cary. But I think she kinda knows by now. And you're right; at least he has an excuse to be a selfish ass at this point. You know she'd never leave him anyway, and they both know she's going to be hurt one way or the other. I'm glad Kev is going to tell Brian, it must be hard to keep saying those words :( I like to think that he does love Cary but he's also scared and doesn't want to be alone, which is understandable.

I think you're right about his feelings; it's kind of a mix of both, and with everything else he's going through, he's not totally sure either. Hm...I don't feel like that's entirely fair for Cary to have to care for Nick like this. I don't know.
"Nurse, friend, girlfriend… When it came to our relationship, those titles had never been clearly defined. Always, the lines had been blurred." - Cary, then ASK Nick what you are to him. She keeps going on about this and it's annoying. Ugh.

Author's Response: Thanks for the review! It's not fair, but what else is she supposed to do? Regardless of how he feels about her, she loves him, and I think it comes with the territory... when you love someone, you'll do anything for them. Like it or not, she's kinda stuck now. Even if she walked away, she'd still have her heart broken over it. She's tried to ask him, and he's never really given her a clear answer. The L-word probably just confused her more. But like she said, at this point, does it matter? LOL I dunno, it's a messed up situation! Thanks again for the comments! :)

I saw you updated & literally, my first thoughts were "Oh, no...."
Not because I hate the fic (you know I love it), but because I'm dreading his death & the pain it's gonna cause everyone & the tears I know I'm gonna cry, though it's only fan fic (thank God!).

Wow that was sad. Made me tear up when he asked what it was like to die. Its hard to tell someone that let alone watch them deteriorating in front of you. I am glad he finally told her he loved her but I see her point. Always the wrong moment Carter. Great update as usual Julie!

I liked the warning. However I have a feeling I will read this no matter where I am. And yes I had tears running down my face as I read this especially when she was explaining to him how it will be. I will read this excellent story no matter where I am. Funny I was hoping he would marry her before he dies. And maybe they could have a baby so she has a part of him left. You & rockofages are the only two that can write a sad story & I will look forward to reading it. This is pure gold and better than just about anything out there.

Poor Cary, she's in for nothing but a world of heartache. And it's for a man who's not in love with her. That's just tragic. I really feel for her. Nick, lord love him, says it because he's grateful. And I get why he's been so selfish and even why he said it. But really my heart goes out to her in this.

She's in for a heartbreak, if the story keeps heading in this direction, but I guess that's the risk you take when you give your heart to someone else.
