Awwwww poor Nick (that's like my catch phrase for this story lmao). Anyways ZDR, I like that you used the old commercials LOL. I love those things, and the way you tied in the past with the present. I could really feel Nick's anxiety in this chapter and it came across really well. Loved it as always!
Author's Response: LOL I think all our reviews to each other include some version of "poor Nick." Nick torture ftw! (Ooh, was that insensitive?) As usual, I didn't really plan the whole Millennium throwback, but as soon as I thought of the opening line of the chapter, I was like, "The countdown is on!" and went from there LOL. I think it makes it extra sad, to look back on the good old days, and you know I like sad. ;) Glad you enjoyed it - thanks, ZDR!!!

Thanks for another update. I can't wait to find out what the fans think of Nick's announcement. I honestly don't think "probably" is the correct word, more like, "yes" it is going to suck. I feel like saying probably is still sort of giving Nick false hope in a way. But we humans don't always have correct word choice.

Loved these last two chapters Julie! Poor Nick, the way he is doubting himself and feeling so undeserving of Cary's love and attention. He does deserve her, they are so good together!
Don't envy that neck tube, it sounds horrendous but I laughed at him not wanting to wear the gay looking scarf. I'm sure it is only BSB fans who buy Leighanne's stuff too, lol.
That last line about not caring about what he looks like or what people think, oh, that was sad. I hope this stem cell transplant works for him.
Can't wait for more!!
Author's Response: Thanks, Steph! I think he's finally realizing how much he's used her... not that she really minds LOL, but he knows he kinda mislead her to get her into this whole situation. But really, they're both getting something out of it, so it's not such a bad situation, other than the fact that he's sick and that sucks. Glad you liked the scarf part; Leighanne does have some cute stuff, but it's so overpriced that I can't imagine people who weren't fans paying for it. =P I actually did buy that scarf at a Wylee party, and I have a bag too (one of the mini-totes, the cheapest kind LOL), and I like both, but I wouldn't have had any interest in them if it I wasn't such a Brian girl LOL. Anyway... thanks again for the review; glad you enjoyed the chapters! :)

LOVE IT! I know I'm so far behind everyone else, but I'm catching up still... and I just loved how this chapter was written - totally believable and definitely not over the top. Love that you didn't have them go from kissing to "canoodling" (hehe) in the same night, but that you're taking it a little slower. This was just such a sweet way for the two of them to come together!

Again, I'm glad you gave this story a try and got into it. :) I know you're a romance girl, so I especially appreciate your comments on this chapter. I do like romance, but I feel awkward writing it at times, so I never know how it's going to turn out. I'm glad you thought it was believable and sweet. :) I wasn't even totally sure the story was going to go in this direction, and I told myself I was only gonna go there if I felt like the characters had the right chemistry for it. Even though Cary's had a crush on Nick developing basically the whole story, I wasn't sure how he felt about her, and I knew she would never be the first to make a move because of the awkwardness of it all, so I had to wait to see if he would LOL. It didn't seem like the right place for them to go right to "canoodling" LOL, but stay tuned... hehe. Thanks again!!

Ah poor thing. At least he got some before all of the "Harvesting " started. Nasty name for it. Sounds like they are harvesting body parts. Yuck. I just hope he goes into remission and stays that way. You know I am a sucker for a happy ending. Either way though I will read this until the very end. Excellent work as always and one of the best stories on the net. You are probably the only one that could get me to read a sad story and like it. Shows how damn talented you are. Keep it up.

Author's Response: Thanks for the review, Marguerite! LOL You're right, it is kind of weird, and they do use the same term for organ transplants too. Technically he is in remission right now, which is another reason this is so hard for him to have to go through this, but the kind of cancer he has tends to relapse quickly and be a lot harder to treat then, so they're trying to nip it in the bud before it has a chance to spread again. Hopefully it will work to keep him healthy. I'm so glad you're still reading and enjoying this story, even though it is kind of a downer most of the time. It means a lot to me. Thanks again!! :)

I liked the ominous ending, dun dun dun! Poor Nick. He's so emo in this chapter, I just want to give him a big hug! I hope his whole procedure goes well. The part at the beginning with Cary dressing up as the sexy nurse for him was so aborable. Loved his thoughts during his part, and I thought her getting so embarassed during it was so realistic. I also enjoyed Nick making fun of the Wylee scarf lol. Great job as usual Julie :)

I'm amazed at myself that it took this long for emo Nick to come out in earnest, but here he is! I have a special place in my heart for emo Nick, so I'm glad you just felt like giving him a big hug.
