That chapter brought tears to my eyes, it was telling Kevin that did it. And Nick looking up to the sky wondering if that would be the last time he saw a 4th of July too, so so sad :( But I agree, he has to cherish every day and try to remain positive. Hopefully it will be good news at the hospital.
Loved that chapter and can't wait for more :)

I wanted that to be a poignant scene; I just feel like Kevin is a sensitive guy, and when it comes to this subject, he'd be even more sensitive, cause of his dad, so I wanted to explore that a little. Awww damn man you made me cry when he told Kevin! :( But the beginning of the chapter was funny. I'm glad he told him though, and it was nice how he offered to go to his appointment and stuff. Nick needs that kind of support now, especially because something big like cancer is not good to handle alone. Great chapter as always, I always enjoy your writing Julie!

An amazing update. Poor Kevin finding out. I'm glad that Nick is trying to remain hopeful, but I can understand if he feels sad that people are looking at him like he's already dead, you know. Like he's a goner. I can't wait to find out how Cary's doing and Nick's upcoming hospital visit.

Yeah, it's a tough situation, cause of course you want to be hopeful, but you also don't want to be completely delusional about how serious it really is. Nick's kind of past that denial state where he wants to pretend everything is fine, now that he's seeing how seriously everyone else is taking it. Awwwwww! What a way to break it to Kevin. I was wondering when that would happen, since I knew it had to be done. I loved it. Especially with the thoughts from Nick about maybe this is his last 4th. :( I can just see it in my head, him gazing up at the stars...

Author's Response: Thanks, DR!! :) Yeah, I knew this had to happen before I went any further with the story; it's bad enough it took 50 chapters for Kevin to actually make it into the story... I guess that's what he gets for leaving the group, though. LOL Nick had a tweet about driving a 75-ft boat sometime between the end of the tour and 7/7, so that's where I got the idea. aaawh no movie scene here, when a couple says goodbye at the airport, girl leaves, guy doesn't want to leave her side and runs up to her, she turns around and.....well .....nope not happening here, at least not yet haha. I hope, I still think they are awesome.
Curious about Nicks treatment and stuff right now, he has to make it! And see he can't live without Carys help hihi.
