A nice beginning, but a sad/scary ending. That's sad that Cary was reliving those memories of her dying mom. But at the same time, I feel like she and Nick needed a reality check of what might be ahead, more so for Nick than Cary. He is facing a deadly disease and is in so much denial about what is happening inside his body with the cancer and chemo. But anyway, thanks for the update.
Author's Response: Thanks for the review! I agree; the reality check was a last-minute add because I couldn't figure out how to wrap up this chapter LOL, but it's probably my favorite part. Nick did need that. Thanks again!

Very cute chapter....loved Jailhouse Rock and Nick singing it was adorable. Them singing for the residents was sweet, I love Weird World. And its so cute she picked bridge over troubled water to sing, that song was the first song Nick had learned, I remember reading about it in the book Jane wrote about him. Awesome chapter as always!

I really do like that you go back and forth with the POVs on this story. It's nice to see it from both angles.

I wasn't sure, at first; originally I was just going to write it in Cary's, but I think Nick's adds a lot to it and is interesting to write it, even though it's harder. Now this was sweet & sad. He got some normalcy & relaxation but she admitted her feelings for him. I think he would feel the same. I hope she tells him or he asks her. Might make things easier. Her dad was cool. Very accepting. Please tell me he gets some love & happiness before the end? Keep up the great work.

Aw. Cary really is developing some feelings for Nick. I kind of sensed it, but it was bound to happen, they spend so much time together. It was nice to see her in her hometown and reminiscing about things, but that was sad about the picture frames. It seems like she is still dealing with some things. Nick is in some serious denial about his illness, I am still waiting for one of the guys to figure it out without him telling. Awesome chapter!

Author's Response: I do too! I had the one of just Brian from the same shoot too; that was my first and favorite Bsb poster. Nick's shirt was pretty fugly LOL. Guys should not wear tight, short-sleeved turtlenecks. Yeah, they were SO popular in those days, they seemed untouchable... I like things better now; they're more accessible. Author's Response: LOL thanks! I was thinking back to when I tweeted about names for the pig, and Bacon Bit was the runner-up after Hambelina, so that was my way of working that in, hehe. I knew she would develop a crush on him. How could you not?! He's to die for. The part where they were looking at all her old photos had me tearing up. So sad. You can tell how much Cary misses her mom. It's very touching. This chapter might be my favourite so far. It has just the right amount of sweetness and sadness. Awesome work as usual, Julie!

Yeah, I think it's been there all along, that crush on Nick, but it's gone from that basic fan level to a more personal thing now that she's actually gotten to know him. I was saying to myself before I read the second to last line that Cary is the opposite of Nick, she's realistic instead of optimistic like Nick. Not that Nick is optimistic about his sickness at all, but he doesn't ever really look at the whole picture like Cary does. But this chapter really put it into perspective of the two outcomes that this story is going to have. Nick is either going to beat his cancer, or he's going to succumb to it, there aren't any other options.
From a writing stand point, I think this was the best written chapter so far. Not grammatically or anything like that, but Cary's voice is so distinctive that you totally believe whatever she says or thinks unlike Nick. Great job again :)
Author's Response: Aww, thank you, Sevily!!! :) Yeah, she really is opposite of Nick in a lot of ways; I like that contrast, and it makes it interesting to write their two different POVs. Cause you're totally right; he is optimistic to the point of being delusional at times, or maybe just naive, and she is more realistic and knows better. And yeah, eventually it will have to go one way or the other. Thanks, I really appreciate that - I enjoyed writing this chapter, this look at Cary's world, and the next one that I'm writing now will be along the same lines. Awwww this chapter was so cute yet so poignant. Poor Cary, how can anyone resist that Carter charm? Dangerous though, given the situation.
I love that they both went back to her place. Looking at the family photos and all, sad but sweet. The ending...*sigh* so true.
