Author's Response: It was hard writing it! But I feel like after everything that's happened, it's due that Nick would finally just start getting crushed by it. He's been very resilient up until now. The thing is this is the first time he's been TRULY alone to deal with it. Before, he had everyone visiting during the house arrest, then people visiting in the LA jail, then he had Zoe in the hospital, and Eric in the new prison. For the first time he's completely alone. He's bound to fall apart......Howie's gesture is great, I can picture Howie really doing that.....As for AJ/Kayla...read on my friend, read on. LOL :)

Holy cow! As soon as Zoe defended him, I knew Kayla would not be happy. I like her but I have to say, she can be very immature at times.
Author's Response: Kayla is very immature. She never really grew up. She's been forced into a position of growing up very quickly because of Leon's advances on her, and she's not handling it well. Psychologically, she's overwhelmed and out of touch. You'll see this more as you continue on.

Eh, after all the crap she's been doing while he's been in there, it just makes all of that lovey dovey stuff look like an act. I'm so over her. lol
And I knew that Nick was going to get jumped in there at some point, but luckily it didn't get that far. I like the way you wrote that whole scene, especially where he hit the table, it was very cinematic.
Author's Response: Thanks! I knew Nick HAD to get jumped at some point, I mean a pretty boy like he is, especially with these guys torturing the crap out of Eric... The Kayla thing, though, I'm trying to get it across in the story, and I'm hoping Dr. Haseltine's involvement (coming soon) will help, but it's not really seeming to... She's acting out in response to Leon's attack...it's all psychological. Kayla's attachment/love for Nick is very real, but she's got some very real issues going on inside her, too, in the aftermath of Leon. I'm not sure where, but I had a review a couple chapters back (I think the chapter when Zoe found the condom) where someone else had commented on Kayla's action/change-of-character, and I explained the reasoning behind it a little better in my response there if you want to check it out.

Yeah....but did he actually KILL him? If not, even tho he's in major trouble...GO ERIC!!! Nick would be so proud of you!! I'm glad he was able to stand up for himself. I don't believe violence is the answer but in these cases, I love when the bullied comes out victorious!!
Author's Response: I love unexpected hero sequences, too. But Eric is a defender. He fights in defense of others, but not for himself. Have you noticed this? Each time he's stood up to these guys they've been talking about Nick negatively. He's in jail for defending his partner, etc. I'M proud of Eric. As for whether he actually killed the guy or not...well, you'll have to stay tuned.
