Author's Response: I'm glad you're able to understand Kayla a little better with that explanation... I'm working on getting it into the actual story (which should be accomplished with Dr. H coming back into play). And Eric's story's coming... :)

Poor Eric. I really do like his character and the friend he's become to Nick. I just pray he gets out alive. But I wonder if Nick realizes he's only feeding Eric's crush on him by those small gestures? Great chapter...can't wait to see if Eric gives or receives a beatdown!

Oh Kayla you should tell Nick before someone else does. Like Leon. I think my favorite part will be when Leon gets caught, realizes that he will rot in prison & has to watch as nick gets his life back & gets the girl. Which hopefully will be Kayla.

I don't know how I feel about this sudden change in character for Kayla...
Author's Response: I wasn't sure about it when I first started plotting it out, but I did a paper once for my psychology class on the effects a rape experience could have on various people types and Kayla's "old" personality fit the bill for this type of change. She actually changed more gradually than it appears, too, if you look back... After it happened, she became very sexual with Nick very quickly compared to how they'd been progressing prior. Nick was what was keeping her grounded; if you notice, she didn't start completely changing until he was taken away from her completely -- the further from Nick Kayla is, the more the incident with Leon is effecting her. But she did start showing the changes immediately -- it just wasn't as obvious because she was directing it toward someone who she was expected to be acting sexual with, instead of people you didn't expect. Just a small explanation for why the change is occurring, etc. This is all going to play a major part in the sequel.

A person shows growth & strength of character by being able to rise above adversity and stay the righteous path. The only one who seems to be able to do it is Nick! Shame on AJ & Kayla. I don't care if they're hotter than asphalt on a 90 degree day for each other, they both suck and SHOULD feel like shit. Neither one of them is getting any sympathy from me at this point.
