Damn, this is so good Hannah. The way Kevin feels is heartbreaking but I'm so glad that you write it that way. So many stories focus on how they're so close and how Kev takes care of Nick. I don't doubt it's that way, but at the same time...tough love is sometimes the way to go. After all the shit that Nick put the guys through with the drinking and whatnot, I don't blame Kev for being a little unsure.
Love the dead hamster metaphor. And I'm SO glad that he's on the way to LA now.
Author's Response: The dead hamster metaphor was one of my favorite lines in the whole story. :) I'm glad you appreciated it, too. And yes, I feel like Kevin/Nick protection/close stories are probably on par most of the time, but I feel like in this particular story a wedge was shoved between them when Nick punched him in the early chapter when Kevin remembers what happened when he left the band. That changed their relationship dynamic drastically, and this is what happened in the aftermath. Maybe they'll get it back, maybe it's driven too deep. Only time can tell. But I felt like Kevin wouldn't have forgotten that easily and thats what would drive him to doubt Nick in spite of himself.

What a great chap. I have to say, I can't blame the guys for feeling hopeless. I can't imagine how they're feeling especially after seeing Nick wasting away in prison :( LOL at AJ mentioning Kevin being a lawyer. I was laughing about the Chicago mention. I could totally picture AJ saying that.
