Great job with the medical jargon. I can tell you researched what you were saying because it sounded like a doctor was really speaking. I think that's so important when you are dealing with anything medical, to make it sound believeable and not over the top technical. Ah, this was the time of Brian and his heart woes. I wasn't a fan back then. I came late to the Backstreet party so I missed all that drama!

When Emily went to the piano room and Kevin showed up, I instantly said, "One of them is going to play "Heart and Soul" The go to song for all piano scenes! See, this is where the me who doesn't enjoy reading female centered stories had a hard time caring about Cassie. In my head I made it one of the guys, but despite my little quirk, I feel for Emily and get where's she's coming from. I do hope she does go see her friend because Kevin was right, Nick...erm...I mean Cassie is far away from home and probably feels alone and islolated! Just letting you into my brain. LOL Don't get too scared in there!
Author's Response: Haha. I'm not too terribly scared. I'm not surprised you were able to peg me on "Heart and Soul," and I'm the first to admit that yes, there are quite a few clichés thrown in there. I get that you don't care much for Cassie ( or Nick? ;) in this chapter, but you might have a little more appreciation for it in the next chapter. I guess we will find out!

Great action in this chapter and again the use of dialogue really helped it along. You do a great job in general with your dialogue. I don't know why but I got a kick out of the "and who the hell is Steve?" line probably because I actually said the same thing. lol

I'm back! :O) You mentioned at the start of this chapter that you were really proud of it and you should be. It was a very visual chapter and I don't mean that in the 'sexual' way. When I read, I like to be able to see it in front of me, playing out like a movie. That's the way I like to write and the way I hope it is when I read. Your great mixture of dialogue and description in this particular chapter made it really easy to feel like I was right there. What you said about Danny coming into her life again only to be taken away hit a chord with me because the same thing happened to me with an ex of mine. I ran into him in a store after we were broken up for a year and a month later he was killed in a car accident. It was like fate brought us together one last time. I was also very happy to see Kevin pull away from Em, knowing it would be a mistake to take advantage of her while she was so distressed. That's my Kevin! Thank you for not making Emily a Mary Sue! Thank you thank you THANK YOU! lol Wow, that was long...sorry!
Author's Response: Haha. Welcome back! Thanks so much for the feedback on this chapter. Don't apologize for being long winded. I like it! This is a defining chapter for Kevin and Em. He cares enough about her tht he won't take advantage, and she's too younger experienced to realize it. Thank you for saying she's not "Mary Sue." I tend to think she's got a little bit of Mary Sue in her. FYI I had no idea what that meant until I got active on this site a year or so ago. Well there I go getting long winded :) I always enjoy your feedback!

Lou is such a jerk! I can totally see him doing something like that. I think it was pretty realistic that only Emily got to go. The emo girl in me kind of wishes there was more emphasis on the funeral. I was all prepared to get all chocked up and everything! lol
I'm going to be switching over to Erika's story for the next five days but I shall be back! :O) I know...I'm too regimented. I am enjoying this one so far!

Eh- I thought about it, but at the time I was writing this, I had recently lost someone close to me, and I couldn't stomach the idea of actually having to write a funeral scene. Aww you killed Danny? I really liked him. Well maybe he isn't dead. Maybe you just maimed him lol maiming is okay. I think Em belongs with a maimed Danny. I like how we really got to know Danny and Em's relationship in this chapter. And I especially liked how Danny referred to Kevin as the one with the eyebrows! That's actually how my sister refers to Kevin as well!

Haha. That's also how my mom refers to him! Looking back, I think I could have done the Danny storyline a little differently. However, as you read along, I think you'll see why I did things the way I did with his character. Whatever that was that I did with him.....

Loved the first half of the chapter with Howie, Kevin and Brian. I thought it was sweet for Kevin to plan a surprise party of Em and once again I'm glad they didn't take things too far when they very easily could have.

I liked getting a peek at the friendship Emily and Amelia have and of course that pick up line with a young Nick was too cute. It's nice that Emily has a special relationship with Kevin that didn't go straight to sex and of course it's nice she has that sisterly bond with Howie as well.
