Author's Response: I knew since the beginning it was going to be Brian who wouldn't be able to let go. He tries so hard in this one to keep Nick with him. I can't blame him really :(. I'm touched it's making you tear up though! Means I did my job lol.

Even though the story is about Nick, I like that you took a look at what is going on with those that are caring for him, the fight between the guys about what to do with him and how to go from there and the differing thoughts.
Author's Response: Thanks. That's what I wanted to do, not just show Nick but how it impacted the group. Cause that story is just as interesting as the one that's happening to him.

Does the mind really kind erase things like that, you lose your earlier memories and then the later ones start going? I know the end result of the disease but I have never read about how it happens. I can understand Nick's feelings that he is a burden though, even though they are wanting to help the fact that he is putting them through that is not easy to accept.
Author's Response: With Nick, he's actually losing his later ones. Like he keeps forgetting Aaron's gone. There's no specific rhyme or reason to it, but it's usually the later or more recent ones first. That's why he's remembering as if he's 17 at the end. It's common to start mixing yourself up in older memories.

the confusion that the people with the disease have was brought out well in his chapter. That feeling that everyone is against you. He really lost a lot of time, it really is time for him to be in the care of people. So sad.

I had to reread to see if he turned on the stove, I was afraid he did though I didn't see mention of it, doesn't mean he didn't. I hope he didn't start a fire. he really needs to get over the stubborness and realize he needs help so he doesn't hurt himself or someone else with what he can't remember.
Author's Response: Nope, no need to give him more angst than I'm already piling on him lol. He's stubborn but part of it is because once he admits he needs help there's no going back. It's easy to see why that would be so hard for him.

I can understand how the last half wasn't easy. For him to have such a huge lapse of time. He is progressing rather quickly. At least he made up with his mother, even if he doesn't remember, she does and will.
Author's Response: They did say he was progressing quicker than they originally expected. That's the thing with this disease it can literally vary from 1 year to 10. It's sad but there's no way to know until it happens. Yep, he made up with Jane finally, but look what it took to make it happen.

I like how you don't always have the same one coming to find/help him. There are times he needs Kevin, Brian, Howie and AJ in different ways and he isn't always going to the same one and the same one isn't always looking for him.
Author's Response: Until then he remembers and forgets and then is reminded, so it's almost like he relives it though :(. Thanks! You're right, it's not always going to be the same one and it shouldn't be.

Author's Response: LOL stay conscious! Yeah, Nick decided since it doesn't matter anymore, he'd give his mother what she finally wanted. Nick's always the bigger man when it comes to her. As for his dad...well he earned that.

Loved the scene with Nick and Leslie though. Very sweet and gave her a good memory there at the end. There is a nice balance of lightheartedness to go with the seriousness of the story.
Author's Response: Pretty much, though I will say something does spark a change eventually. I'm glad you liked the Nick/Leslie scene. I re-read it just now and it's a bit sad to me knowing what happened in real life to her. :(. Thank you, as much of an angst fest this is, I wanted to keep a balance so that it's not 100% depressing the whole way through LOL.

oh the next chapter should be interesting with his mom... everytime I read Husband I think of Where the Heart is and Sister Husband... LOL .. I am glad that they have mended their relationship enough for Leighanne to be there for when he would need the support, with his mother.
Author's Response: This chapter came after the first cruise lol. So after seeing Nick and Leighanne dancing and having fun together at the deck parties, it inspired me to write their relationship as closer than I probably would've written it before. Any chapter featuring Jane is interesting lol.

Author's Response: I definitely wanted to show things throughout it so that it's a slow build, glad you caught them. And yes! I don't ignore Howie lol, he's harder to write but I make a conscious effort to keep him included lol.
