Ugh, this line seriously broke my heart: "Dad, you always say God has a reason for everything. Why? Why would he do this? Nick never did anything to deserve this…” :'( And poor Brian, he's determined to not let Nick be turned in so soon... he's not ready to let his best friend go. :( I would more than likely feel the same way as Brian... though it's hard, I couldn't imagine turning my best friend over like that. :(
Author's Response: I always wrote this story with Brian and Nick at the forefront. That's why (as you know by now) "he" wrote it. And it's why Nick stayed at his place, and Brian was the one in charge of Nick. It always at the end, went down to those two, even though it's about the entire group really. So I knew, I'd be writing about Brian's inability to let go. Given his faith and bond to his best friend, it would be the hardest for him, even when you take in AJ's denial. He knows once he lets go, that'll be it. Given their faith, I knew Baylee would be questioning it, who wouldn't? And that Brian wouldn't have the answer this time :(. It's not easy to write, but I loved it in a sense cause it's a new way to explore Frick/Frack.

Oh my... the guys can't be falling apart like this, not now... not when Nick needs them the most! I remember stumbling across this alzheimer awareness video, and for the life of me I can't find it! It was the saddest thing ever, quite similar to this chapter... where a grandmother was going to cook food for her granddaughter because she was hungry, but she forgot how to work a rice pot. The granddaughter demaded food, and the grandmother decided to go out and get her food. She goes out, gets the food, and then looks around, realizing she was lost. She began grabbing people, begging them to tell her where she was and how to get home. She eventually grew frustrated and scared, that she started crying, begging to be taken home. The family finally found her, and she couldn't remember her own child and their spouse, but she remembered her granddaughter and handed her the food she wanted. Ugh, that video made me bawl my eyes out like you wouldn't believe, and this chapter made me want to do the same!! >_<
Author's Response: Sadly, this disease would stress any tight bond. Even the Boys. Dealing with Nick is hard, they'd never give up on him, but it's hard. So eventually they start to crack a bit. And OMG that sounds so sad! That poor grandma! :(. I'd be bawling too. I'm so flattered my chapter got you feeling that way though, best compliment this story can have.

I seriously can't imagine going through what Nick's going through. I've had episodes like that, where I forget, and it downright scares me. From what my doctor said, it's because of a medical condition I have, nothing too serious, but I will experience episodes where I can't remember things... a slight memory loss that's normal, according to him. It doesn't happen often thank god, but when it does, it drives me insane... to the point where I'll just sit down and cry. I had actually gone into a slight anxiety attack one time because of it. It's weird, because my memory can be fucking great at times, and then... I'll feel like I'm losing it, lol.
But man... to go through what Nick's going through... to have it feel like Aaron's dying again. Talk about heartbreaking!! I told you I hate you, right? ;P
Author's Response: Neither can I, and I'm the one who wrote it lol. And dude, I can only imagine just how freaking frightening that is. It's hard to picture period. *hugs* With Nick, because Aaron's death came after his memory started it's downhill path, it's not something that'll ever stick. Brian had a point about not telling him, cause he'll only relive the death just to forget it again :(. And you love me! Deep down... lol

Oh gosh... the exchange he had between him and his father, and then his mother seeking forgiveness... DO YOU LIKE TO MAKE US EMOTIONAL ROSE?!? Lol. Fucking damn. And the way you end this chapter... :'( You tapped so perfectly into his impatience and anger towards them, with him really believing it was 2011 and having a short fuse with anyone who tried to tell him otherwise. This disease is a very scary thing, one I don't want to think about, and you portray it so perfectly! Poor Nick. :'(
Author's Response: I always noticed in HOC Nick has a very awkward relationship with his father. More so than the one with Jane even. Like he talked to Bob, when Jane started behaving like Jane... but when Bob came down, Nick did his best to avoid them. They all acted weird, so it didn't seem a stretch to blame part of that on distance. Like you never hear anything about Nick with his stepmom, stepsister, or youngest little brother. It strikes me as odd. And Jane, I knew from the beginning he'd have to forgive her, and that she'd have to ask for it. The only thing was, I knew it would take something huge to get there, so I made Aaron the sacrifice :(. Thanks so much about Nick's episode, a lot of research went into this to make it come off as realistic as possible. I'd never wish it on anyone :(

Oh wow. I didn't see this coming, but at the same time, I did. That was a hard chapter to read, and I know it'll only be harder to read as I continue on with this story. :( Holy shit. :'( How you wrote Nick being out at the beach, throwing stones out at the water, yelling for Aaron to answer him, calling him a shithead... a great, emotional visual. I'm glad AJ found him, because like it was stated in the chapter, on he and Nick would know anything about addictions. But unfortunately, I know Nick won't believe AJ's short words of reassurance. "/
Author's Response: I hinted at it a little, left signs, but I wanted it to come off as a shock. Otherwise, it's not as easy to believe it came as one to Nick himself. Thank you about Nick, with his love of the beach, I always imagined that to be his sanctuary for everything. It's what he knows. AJ had to be the one to find him, cause while they're very different, they're also very alike, and he'd be able to understand better than anyone. :(

Man, that was an intense chapter between Nick and Jane. Grr, that makes me not like that woman even more!! Lol. And the interaction between Leslie and Nick was really endearing... I can only imagine how it'll be between him and BJ.
Author's Response: Their relationship, it was interesting to write. Because I'm very close with my mom, and I've been lucky that way. So it wasn't easy, but Leslie and Nick were. I always figured she had to get fed up with the Nick comparisons.

Author's Response: I wrote this chapter after the cruise, it put their relationship into a different perspective for me. It made me wonder if Nick after he got his act together, started realizing she's not the devil lol. Cause at one point he hated her so much he was calling her "Yoko" in front of fans. Like on Masquerade Night he took Leighanne's hand and the two danced together on the upper deck, both were having fun and it was really cute.
