Author's Response: LOL That's okay; this was definitely what I call a "filler chapter." Not much to say about that. But of course I was writing about Thanksgiving in July, and I'm pretty sure this was the chapter when I had to go buy myself a pumpkin pie at Kroger because I was craving it so bad... must've been during the break between the two rounds of ACBL LOL. Anyway, thanks for the review! Insightful or not, you can count on a reply, and look, I even gave you a fun fact about my story! =P

Now that the secret is out and he has nothing to hide anymore I love Nick's POV even more. I don't ever really feel the urge to slap him like I sometimes used to. I really look forward to reading his chapters. I think the scene with Lauren was great. That's what happens when two people who used to really care about each other get back together again. I forgot she dumped him before the cancer and not after. I blame The Fault in our Stars for that! lol You did a great job describing how all the guys are with him as well. How he can't really just rest when AJ's around because he's so awkward about everything. It seemed fitting that he's working on his solo album as well. I love how you're managing to squeeze everything into this. Nicely done!
Author's Response: Thanks!! LOL I'm glad you don't feel like slapping him anymore. I'm really glad I decided to tell half the story in his POV; originally I was just going to do Cary's, but it was interesting to try to get into Nick's head. I liked this part with Lauren too. I like her in real life, so I definitely didn't want to make her a bad guy; I just had to have her dump Nick to get rid of her LOL. His solo album wasn't part of my original plan either, but when he released it in real life, I decided to work that in in place of the next leg of the tour or something. Glad you enjoyed this one! I'm back lol I took a break from writing and thought I'd read two more chapters. Glad to see Nick out of the hospital. You did a great job describing how weak he was. I always get either really tired or hungry when reading this lol I feel Thr poor guys exhaustion and I'm sure encountering fans outside would be scary.
Author's Response: Yay! Thanks! LOL I was usually hyped up on Code Red when I was writing this, so I'm glad the exhaustion felt authentic enough to make you tired LOL. It always made me hungry too though - or maybe I was already hungry when I was writing it, who knows! After reading about the fans who tore his pajamas apart outside the studio just now, I think I'd be afraid if I were him too!!

This was another great chapter! I loved having the boys there for him & I especially loved how they were the antidote for his chemo *packs Cary's bags for her* I especially loved his attitude throughout the whole thing. Being jealous of the guys and wanting to even go to Kentucky instead of being in the hospital. Also loved the bushy caterpillar reference lmao!! And of course it seemed so fitting for AJ to shave Nick's head. Aww just a very sweet chapter. One of my favorites so far!

I like how you handled Jane. I guess this is where having Cary still have a POV in this story comes in handy because you were able to hand it off to her and thus avoid having to write Jane lol well done! Figures the only time Cary makes a choice it's to make Nick to talk to someone, it's his horrible mother. I got a kick out of that lol
On the other end of the spectrum, it was nice to hear a bit more about Cary's mom and how hard things were for her as Nick was going through this. It's always nice when you have dad show up. I really like him.

Aww just like I thought it was going to be, this chapter was great. I loved the interview. You made it all very Ellen- ish right down to her coming up with a nickname for it. Piddle lmao I also thought it was great that you incorporated some of your readers into the tweets and maybe one who isn't a fan as well. Subtle passive aggressiveness lol it was insightful having him watch the interview where he seemed so healthy and strong while being in his hospital bed as anything but that. Nice job!

I originally wasn't going to write the interview because I was having a hard time figuring out how to do it; that's why I skipped it the first time around, in the chapter where they went to the studio LOL. But I gave it another shot in this chapter, and inspiration struck, and it actually came together! I'm glad you thought it was very Ellen-ish; I don't really watch her show very often, so I watched a YouTube clip or two and tried to do my best to capture her personality. This would be a very different kind of show from her usual ones LOL. I actually tweeted asking for people to tweet me what they'd say to Nick, which is weird I know LOL, so a couple of those tweets were "real," and then I filled it in with some fake but believable ones as well. ;) I'm glad you liked this chapter. God I hate the Carter family but I know you do too so I bet this chapter was hard to write. I was wondering what Nick's nickname for his new doctor was going to be. Dr. Shnaz lmao love it! And I had a feeling Leslie was going to be the match. Weird reading this chapter after she died. I think you nailed his relationship with each of his siblings. Now him not telling his parents I can stand behind lol
