LOL at your author's note; I've never eaten Spam before either, but I thought it was hilarious that that was the only thing left in the store, so Howie was forced to eat it. The scene in the grocery store really did remind me of a zombie movie, so I loved that comparison and the way it carried across the whole chapter, with the people who were just sitting by the fire or wandering aimlessly around, not sure what else to do. I wonder how they'll get into the city with all the bridges and tunnels destroyed; I didn't even think of that. Nick's in bad shape, and I wonder what just happened to Howie at the end. There you go with the cliffhangers again! LOL I expected nothing less from you.

Author's Response:

I actually bought a can of spam shortly after writing this chapter. It took me a LONG time before I finally tried it though lol it actually wasn't too bad. I fried it and it tasted like bologna. Glad you liked the zombie parts. If it would have fit, I was going to use Song for the Undead as the title of this one, I just couldn't make it work lol

OMG at the Spam/Howie part. That shit is hilarious!! Having lived in Hawaii for a while, I was around it a lot but wouldn't eat it. Can't. I'm with you, Howard.

Author's Response: I just bought a can of Spam yesterday. I figured I might as well try it one day. Of course I know it's just going to end up sitting uneaten in my pantry until the next nuclear holocaust. Along with the two boxes of Jello I never plan on making, ever! LOL

LMAO okay, I love the zombie mention. Which I'm sure you knew would be the first thing I'd point out, of course. Zombie mentions FTW! lol. And the Spam, the randomness of it made me laugh. There's gotta be a way for them to get across, hopefully anyway.

Author's Response: Yup, I knew you'd love the zombie mention lol I out it there for you! :O) You know how random I am so why not mention Spam? Woot! I just rhymed! lmao Thanks Rose!

Loved this chapter Mare!  I could just imagine that shop with the rotting meat and stuff like that, it kind of grossed me out as I've just eaten, lol.  Never tried Spam either and don't think I would as I'm fussy.  No bridges or tunnels is a bit of a pain, no wonder those people have just given up.  I wonder if they can make a raft or something to get across?

Author's Response: LOL yeah, sorry about that. I know that was gross. I kind of grossed myself out too. Funny you mentioned the raft bit. You'll see next week! :O) Thanks for reading Steph!

Sorry I am late with my review. I actually like Spam and it tastes like you described, it is good but a bit salty. The part about the George Washington Bridge creeped me out....I hope they find a way into New York cause I know you won't kill Nicky off...hopefully I am right lol. Great update as usual :)

Author's Response: Glad to know I got the taste right. It looks like it would taste salty lol Thanks Tracy! :O)

LOL!! Now, I must say, I loved the Spam and Hawaii reference you've made, represent!! I freaking LOVE Spam, but I've met a lot of mainland people that beg to differ. I've actually had a friend from the mainland tell me that Spam is poor people's food, and if you ate Spam, then you were poor. I stared at the boy and was like, "Uhh... you know you're in Hawaii, where Spam is a staple, and most of us are far from poor? Those are some fighting words!" Lol.

I guess you could say Spam is an aquired taste, but it's really not bad! Even our local McDonald's sells Spam with their breakfast platters! Besides cooking it up for breakfast and making spam musubis, I like to dice it up and add extra meat to fried rice or whatever else dishes! I especially love the Tobasco Spam! Yum, but anywho, let me end my rant about Spam, I just got excited reading about it, lmao.

Man, their situation is becoming more grim! When I read the part of AJ mistaking the swimming/floating people as fish, my mind went back on the testimonials of survivors of 9/11 and the Titanic, where it all seemed surreal and they at first believed what they saw was something else... not really bodies floating in the water, or people jumping/falling from towers. It's crazy when your mind tries to comprehend it and it can't, and I could seriously feel what Howie was feeling at that moment. Poor guy; such a grim and vivid chapter! And now Howard has fell unconscious! >__< Man, hope things start to look up! Can't wait for the next update!

Author's Response: For some reason I had a feeling you would enjoy the Spam reference lol I thought of you when I wrote it. when I went to Hawaii I almost tried it but decided against it. lol I was like, "Um, i'm in Hawaii, I can get spam anywhere!" Also glad you mentioned both 9/11 and the Titanic because those were the two things I pictured when writing that scene. I almost had Howie actually mention Titanic but I couldn't remember when it came out and didn't feel like looking it up. Thanks for reading and the review, Reb! :O)
