Author's Response: I did lots of research on it...unfortunately that's about the average in a lot of states-especially since she hadn't reported the previous abuse. It ranges from fines to up to a year in jail/prison depending on how severe the charges are. I'm thinking I'm going to talk Katie into getting an order of protection or something against him. You'll just have to see what happens...
