On Icarus, a group of four Horn type fighters out numbered by Kayteen heavy fighters the Jalkhie battle it out for supremacy of that area winner has a clear shot at either the battered transports evacuating the planet or the Kayteen quickly advancing ground tanks

"Thunder Head damn it we can't hold for long we need more fighters to protect the transports"

"Negative Max all forces are in the other side of the planet supporting a counter offence"

"Just because he is flying you put my ass in danger" Max shouted

"Do as you're told" Thunder Head shouted back

The angry Max calls his friends flying next to him "how many transports are left this baby has taken a lot of beating today"

Psycho answered "there four left and we have bigger problems, there is a destroyer poisoning its self in the way, the transports going to be like sitting ducks"

"Ok you guys follow the last four out and attack the destroyer, ill hold these guys off"

"Max are you sure your going to be ok" big boss asked

"Yeah don’t worry" Max knew very will that his fighter will not be able to break away from the planets gravity and will barely hold against the fighters *this is not going to be easy* he thought to him self as he battle valiantly confronts the endless wave of after wave of Kayteen pilots swarming around the area

Max realized that he might not make it back alive

Chapter 4

I volunteered in the medical center I was assigned as a store clerk dispensing drugs and medical supplies to nurses doctors and even wounded solders, it was a rough battle though, though it was a retreat, every body was acting that it was more like a victory, I hear a few of the wounded talking about how the fearless pilots of gold wing faced the enemy head on, and some thing else a very few where even afraid to mention.

We had already jumped through a near by hot spot to a secret location, I was doing my best when

"Sam" Lucian dirty face appeared through the small window, I was so happy to see him we quickly kissed through the small opening in the window "I missed you so much, I'm so glad you're ok"

"It was a tough battle but we did ok" he looked around the medical center and looked straight in to my eyes and said "you look hot in this outfit, ill see you when you finish your duty" he winked at me and turned around then he quickly added "don’t change your clothes till I see you" his voice was a little loud I heard the girls around me giggle

As he was leaving I shouted asking him "Lucian did Max make it back" Lucian turned around he looked at me and shake his head the he left. Later I hear from some of the wounded pilots that Max was shot down and didn’t make it back before the jump out of that area, even General Shoji and most of his officers are assumed missing in action

After my shift I couldn’t shake the thought of Max shot down, so I quickly went to see the only person who could give me information in that matter

"Hello thunderhead" I walked in the almost empty bridge of the Tigers Claw

"Hey SSam" he stuttered greeting, probably because it was the first time I even spoke to him

"Why do they call you thunderhead" I foolishly asked looking around the many computer screens that displays numbers and pictures of space fighters

"will umm Sam, cause I monitor and control the battle from here, my radar and sensitive cameras can show further then any fighter so I direct them where to attack" he quickly answered

"ok can you tell me what happened to Max" I looked in to his brown eyes "I think Lucian asked me about him, could you call Lucian and check please"

"umm no need for that, ill show you I think I have video of his area" he quickly turned around and played the video of his area, his battle was on the other side of the planet so we couldn’t get a clear picture of what was going on but I did noticed some thing strange

"What is that shadow over there"

"I don’t know, let me enlarge it" he quickly started to boot up multiple computer screens and jumping between colors and radars to get that shadow as clear as possible

The result was surprise we where not prepared for

"Is that a class R star destroyer?" he asked him self. I didn’t know what he was talking about

"What's a class R?" I asked turning his face towards mine

"it’s the destroyer used by the Python raiders" he quickly turned to the computer and started to print a few pictures and continued "Thanks Samantha for noticing that, in our present state we couldn’t fight the Kayteens and the Pythons at the same time" and ran off looking for admiral

Still I couldn’t shake Max out of my mind, I can't just bare the thought he might be dead

heading back to our room *closet* my mind drifts away in endless scenarios of Max captured by either Kayteens or Python Raiders, or even just aimlessly wondering around the snow dunes of Icarus looking for shelter from the never ending billiards that dictates the surface of the planet

I enter my room to see Lucian already in bed eyes shut, I knew right away he was pretending. After a quick shower I snuggle my self and put my arms around him and hold tightly

Lucian had a lot on his mind that night, a lot of pilots where injured and cant fly for a few days, heavy damages was sustained to the Tigers Claw battle group, General Shoji didn’t make it out of the planet, Python Raiders are in the area for an unknown reason

With all the problems we where having we both had one thing that troubled us the most. Max is now between us

Next morning, we where in the main conference room, I was sitting next to Lucian. The room was full of pilots and heads from every section.

Every body was talking about the sighting of the Python Raiders destroyer on Icarus and how come no one sow it

"My prince" Mea explains "I know your not going to like this but we should leave the Pythons alone for the moment, we are stretched as it is and reinforcements are still on there way"

"No" Lucian calmly answers "the Pythons are group of thugs and criminals and will not allow them to roam free in our territory"

Adrian jumped in "your right my lord, they are thugs and criminals but they do have a destroyer"

Lucian always liked Adrian and respected his opinions and loved him as an older brother, he quickly smiled and agreed to leave the Pythons alone till more forces arrive

Just when we where about to finish the meeting the comm. Unit in that room signaled an urgent message from the bridge

Admiral looked at Brian as he ran to receive the message

"Sir, the bridge just received a distress call from a small shuttle on its way to us" Brian shouted

"Where did it come from, do they know the origin" Admiral quickly asked

"Yes Admiral, the broadcasting code confirms it's…General Shoji"

It was a happy turn of events, I heard that the General had top secret plans for our next attack and it was amazing to know that there was a small shuttle managed to break through the Kayteen blockade on the icy planet

At the docking bay every body was present to witness the first passengers to emerge out of the extensively damaged shuttle. Most where wounded and needed quick medical attention as soon as they stepped out of the shuttle, so I was helping one of the nurses till I hear every body cheers as General Shoji emerged out of the shuttle with a big smile and helping one of his men

After a while, almost all the wounded where moved to the medical center and only a few left, Lucian approached me very happy as I packed a bag heading back to the medical center

"Nice day" his deep soft voice sent joy to my world

"…" its like the first time I meet him, I couldn’t produce any words to reply to him

"Come here" he softly pulled me towards him and hugged me

"YOU IDIOT what are you thinking" Psycho reverberant voice rumbles through the docking bay only to grab every bodies attention

I looked at him and see Max on the floor next to the shuttle with lots of blood coming out of his left side, shaking, sweating and apparently in pain and unable to get him self up

I quickly open my medical bag and run behind a nurse to help the injured pilot

"Don't ever do stupid stuff in mission, you hear me" Psycho shouted at Max

"Its ok" I tried to calm the emotional pilot "Max will be ok just calm down" I quickly looked around only to see Lucian's direct cold look at Max, then he turned and walked away

From that look I knew that Lucian will not leave Max alone, and it's my job to try to prevent him from hurting Max
