Summary:

The week before Millennium is released, the Backstreet Boys are on top of the world. They can sense their lives are never going to be the same, but unfortunately, they didn't intend for it to happen quite the way it did. "Star Troopers".......clever name.  And making Nick watch as his "brothers" were murdered....I guess the Geneva Convention is not in effect in this universe.

And what a cliffie!  Kevin's reaction was definitely unexpected.

I can't imagine how hard it must have been for Howie and Nick to leave Randy and Clara and not turn back when they heard those shots. Nick and Laura - extremely sad. 

But with all the things happening in this chapter, the most shocking was Howie leaving Nick.  Howie left Nick?!

Emotional update, Mare.  I hope we have a quick update next!

Thanks to AJ for providing a little comic relief.  And granted, we knew Nick would come back, but your description of him was really creepy and believable (great job, Mare).

I'll need another update to help me unwind if I have another long week like this first week of school!

I am so glad for the update!  I think this AJ is very realistic.  I see it as a culmination of all the fear and frustration he's feeling.  Now, the idea that he has "gained" some of the traits of the AJ of this current universe is interesting.  And I find myself asking some of the same questions as AJ: will the others "gain" traits from their counterparts? and what of Nick? is his "double" still alive? and if so, does this explain Nick's illness....two Nicks sharing the same plane of existence?  (Can you tell I'm a sci-fi fan?!)

I am really loving this, Mare.  It's so very different from anything you've written before!

Author's Response: I really have enjoyed writing AJ in this story. For some reason he's been the easiest to channel lol probably because of the alternate universe and alll lol I am really glad you're enjoying this and that maybe i'm doing sci-fi some justice. Thanks for reading Pammy!

I tend to always see Howie as more protective of Nick than Kevin.  It has been odd to see him so ambivalent in this story.  I get the "fight or flight" impulse; and it makes me wonder what I would do in his situation.

Our Nicky is really having a rough time in this universe!  I really hope the guys are reunited soon.

I knew the other Nick being alive would have ramifications for this Nick!  But, yeah, the Boys are back together!  Now, the idea of having to kill Nick....any Nick....is a scary proposition.

As for the chapter length, I say go with what works for you.  I will keep reading either way!

Thanks for the update, Mare.  I love the fact that regardless of how "dark" a chapter is, you usually are able to supply some comic relief.  I loved the Nyquil story by AJ.  I was just talking to a colleague this week and telling her how one of my cousins would give her child Benadryl to get her to take a nap.

I keep going over the chapter title with this one and I don't think AJ's secrets are really dark.  I just think that the future looks a little bleak.

Sorry I'm so late with my review, Mare.  But, here goes!

Can I just say oh Brian, you're breaking my heart.  Very well written, Mare.  And I like the conversation between alternate Nick and Brian.  It's seems very realistic. I'm glad  Brian didn't flat out forgive because he is grieving; yet, hearing about the similarities of his own alternate allows Brian to keep the door open.

Mmmm....somehow this is a fitting in....poetic in a way.  Nick of Bizarro World shares the fate of his brothers; while BSB will not continue without their Nick.  But I was surprised by the "time travel" aspect of this.  Good job, Mare.  Now I'm off to read Epilogue B.

In the previous epilogue, when Howie thought it was his Nicky returning, I thought what a twist that would be.  But it makes perfect sense to me....they haven't taken off yet, so Nick isn't dead.  I knew you really couldn't kill our Nick!  Well, not permanently.  Again, good job, Mare.  How you manage to keep this straight in your head, I have no idea.
