Dude you went there ZDR! Now you know slash isn't my thing but this is realistic in my opinion. Nick woukd struggle HARD against this and fight it before finally giving in. And I liked the last line saying no it wasn't fireworks, but there was a spark. Glad I finally caught up!

Great chapter, I had a feeling Nick and Howie would end up kissing or something when they went to the rocket launch.
I loved that they were singing Oasis together and then watched that rocket launch, sounds like such a great thing to watch.
And even though I'm not into slash, I'm definitely into this story. I think if it's a great story, then I don't mind going out of my comfort zone as a reader.
Can't wait for more :)
Author's Response: Thanks! :) I loved the idea of the rocket launch, too; it seemed sort of "romantic" and something Howie knew Nick would really enjoy. I screamed at the end of this chapter lol. Basically the whole Nick getting bullied and putting his feelings aside because he didn't feel it was socially acceptable makes sense because it's Nick. He always hides how he really feels until he blows up from bottling. I'm the same way sometimes. Howie wasn't helping much and I jokingly thought to myself... They just need to make out already. So glad Nick kissed him and got it out in the open. What a great scene that was. I'm so happy you went in this direction and don't worry, I am not going to stop reading. In fact I'm rooting for then as a couple lol. Funny thing is a year ago I probably wouldn't read something like this because I didn't like slash... Now look at us both writing slash. Awesome chapter, can't wait for the next one. I wonder how Howie will react after a kiss like that!

He was the one I couldn't figure out, but I thought this would be a believable reason for him to be in denial, even from himself. Thanks for the compliments on this scene! I had so much fun writing it. I'm starting to see the appeal in slash. I don't think it's something I'll be writing all the time now, but I finally "get it" and could see myself writing another one with the right storyline. I'm glad you're rooting for Nick and Howie! Okay, so this chapter was totally heartbreaking!! That being said, all I can focus on is the Instagram post and those two fans. There MUST be something more to that encounter, right?? Something is going to come out of it that will end up being disastrous for Howie in some way. Maybe? Right? Update so I can find out! :P
Author's Response: Aww, I know, the end was especially heartbreaking to write. LOL I think you, as a suspense writer, may be reading too much into the fan encounter. They really were just fans, and I stuck them in there because I realized I hadn't shown Howie really interacting with anyone like that after going public with his illness. That's not to say nothing will come out of the Disney day, but there really isn't anything more to the Instagram/fan thing. Sorry! I love the speculation, though! Thanks for reviewing! I'm so excited to post the next chapter, I may just update sooner than I was planning. :)

Well, not a lot actually happened in this chapter, but A LOT HAPPENED! Damn! First, the conversation between Leigh and Nick was totally cute and totally believable. If I were in Leigh's position, I would also be looking for answers. Of course, I'm not sure actually knowing the answers would make me feel any better. Second, OMG Nick and his feelings(?) for Howie. Where are you going to take this?! I'm so confused now; although, probably not as confused as poor Nick seems to be. Third, I have never met a small child who actually stays in bed once their parents have put them there! LOL Come on Nick; lock the door!! :P Fourth, you need to update this damn thing so that I can be put out of my misery in terms of wondering about WHAT Nick is feeling.

The conversation between Nick and Leigh was fun and really interesting to write, since it's the first time those two have had any real interaction in this story. I'm glad it seemed believable! Nick is definitely confused. Hell, I am still confused about Nick's feelings in this story LOL. I do know where it's going now, but decided early on to let some aspects evolve on their own and see where it took me. You are so right about little kids! lol, Poor Nick. I thought having to hide a monumental erection from James was going to be his biggest predicament of the night.
But OMG, I was not expecting his thoughts to drift in that direction, or for those thoughts to 'cause such a reaction in him. He's so sexually frustrated yet confused, unable to relieve himself without thinking of his bandmate. This has taken an interesting turn. XD

I am happy to see you updating again. I have not really been reading any fanfiction but I had to read this because I love this story. So I think Nick and Howie living together for a while is going in the direction I want them to... Meaning I think Nick is going to realize the reason he keeps pushing Howie away is because he's in denial. He's been in denial this whole time and didn't want anyone to know. That would explain a lot of his own actions. He felt guilty and pushed Lauren away too. That being said.... It must be hard to decide how to tell your kids something like this. I mean especially when your kids are as young as James and Holden are. Hopefully they figure it out soon. Awesome chapter.

Yay for an update! I'm still here and reading - in case you were wondering. HAHA Anyways, I enjoyed this chapter, but I found it heartbreaking at the same time. I totally felt for Howie walking into his condo and not seeing any traces of his kids. I can't remember the last time that I walked into my own condo and didn't trip over some random toy!! LOL I'm curious to see where you're going to take this as things seem to be chugging along in about the best way that they can given the current circumstances. I know that you're not done with the drama!! :P
Author's Response: Thank you! I was wondering if ANYONE was still reading after how flaky I've been with updating, so it's nice to know at least one person is! I really appreciate it. I fully intend to keep updating this (hopefully more frequently than I have been) and finish it; I just got busy at the beginning of the school year and lost my writing mojo and never got it back until I had some time off. I need to try to stay more disciplined about making myself write on the weekends so that doesn't happen again. Anyway, thanks again for the review! I felt sad for Howie writing this chapter too; poor guy has lost just about everything, and his kids being gone must be the hardest part. I am definitely not done with the drama, so stay tuned! I intend to update again this weekend.

I was nervous as to what Lauren and Howie would find at Nick's house after not speaking with him for a month. Thank goodness Lauren and Howie arrived in the nick of time. Nick can't survive on his own.
I love this awkward dynamic that Howie and Nick have after all they've gone through together. I'm excited about Nick staying with Howie in Florida. ^_^
