While Nick struggles to deal with what happened on the cruise, Howie’s indiscretions lead to dire consequences.Howie! I sort of expected him to die but I kind of hoped for the best. Nick finally acknowledges their relationship only to lose him in the end. The turns this took for Nick to finally get here and the way he handled Howie' s death was so in line with how Nick would be. Loved it.
Author's Response: Thanks! I'm glad Nick's part seemed believable. Yeah, I think everyone knew that in a story where half the characters have HIV, at least one of them wasn't going to make it. At least it wasn't Holden! LOL
So I spent the day catching up, and I'm sorry I didn't review each chapter. But that's more because I kept clicking than not wanting to give the feedback you deserve ZDR! I always enjoy Howie/Nick/BSB torture, but the angst in this is delicious. I also feel you really play Nick/Howie in a realistic light. It's not easy, it wasn't "always there" for Nick, you made it complicated.
Knowing there's only 2 chapters (you said 80 right?) to go makes me so curious how you'll end it.
Author's Response: Aww, thanks for catching up and leaving a review! This is probably the angstiest story I've ever written, which is a lot coming from me LOL. I appreciate the compliment about the Nick/Howie relationship seeming realistic. Nick's feelings were definitely tricky for me to figure out. There will be 80 chapters, plus an epilogue, so 4 more to go. Thanks, ZDR!

Awwww what a sweet scene between Howie and Nick, I love it. Lmfao at AJ convincing a fan to move him into Howie's room. How freaking typical. Now to see what the press says :).
Author's Response: It was time for some Howie and Nick bromance! :) I really do enjoy the two of them together, but I have such a hard time writing Howie that I haven't explored their relationship very much in this story. That's probably one of the things that I'm kind of regretting ... oh well.
What a way to start a story! I love that you killed Nick (as someone who kills him often lmao) and I'm interested to see where this angst fest goes :)
Author's Response: Thanks so much! I'm happy that you're excited that I killed Nick off. I was kind of afraid that I would have to dodge a lot of "hate" for my choice. :) Out of curiosity, how often do you kill him?? LOL
This broke my heart but in a great and gripping way. This is coming off as incredibly realistic, down to Nick not listing his parents as next of kin, sad as that is. I wonder where Lauren is? But yes, great job!
And to answer your question lol, lets just say a lot. To the point where as a joke I started a round robin of oneshots where Nick dies in every one (since he's sort of the go-to for torture/Kenny of Fanfic if you watch South Park lol). I'd guess at least more than ten times. But I love him! LOL. (Sorry I had to delete and resubmit a few times cause it kept cutting my review off.)
Author's Response: I'm so pleased that you're finding it realistic. I'm not going to lie, I think I'm going to struggle the most with Howie's point of view. That's why I'm saving it for last. That's too funny about Nick being the Kenny of Fanfic (I DO watch South Park)!! LOL It's kind of impressive that you've managed to find ten different ways of offing him. :)
The last chapter was heartbreaking and so was this one. But I love the angst! (Glutton for punishment...) What a way for Howie to find out and he got lucky those two fans were completely sane. I LOL'd a little at how AJ knew Howie too well and his avoidance tactics. Now that everyone in the group knows, I'm eager to see what comes next.
It's not often I'm this excited for a story by a "new" author. So I'm glad you're here! You should join the forums, we can always use new blood there LOL.
Author's Response: I'm actually beyond happy that you found them "heartbreaking" as I'm taking it to mean that I'm doing a good job. :) My heart jumped a little when you said that you were "excited" for the story. Thanks for that! I wonder what the chances would be of Howie finding two sane fans if the situation were to actually happen? I'm willing to bet that (in reality) he would have found the nuttiest ones of all. LOL Forums eh? I've never actually thought about joining, but I wouldn't mind becoming part of the "community". Hopefully, you guys are nice to the newbies!! ;P
Whoa at Leighanne not doing a damn thing to comfort Brian. That's wow. And while I (lately lol) have my opinions of her, I could see this scenario playing out if a few circumstances changed. I also love that Kevin told them not to come so obviously they are and he's expecting them most likely LOL.
On the note of the AC forum, yes we're friendly to new members! LOL we mainly talk "shop". Anywho, enjoyed the update per usual. :)
Author's Response: I debated for quite a while about adding that stuff about Leighanne. In the end, I kept the comments because they will add to the way in which I'm intending to present Brian's character as the story goes on. (I know that I will eventually take some flack for altering his "usual" character, but oh well!) It's good to know that you guys are friendly in terms of the forums and that won't bite me! :) LOL
Lmao I died at Ricky Ricardo Howie, that poor lady at the rental place. I also love how Kevin knows they never listen to them but tries anyway. I really wanna get behind what happened and where Lauren is. Good job :).
Author's Response: You'll still have to wait a little while to find out what happened. Sorry!! :P My mom is a massive I Love Lucy fan, so I channeled Ricky Ricardo while I was writing the rental counter bit.
I'm with AJ, I want to know how Brian's changed. :) Though I have no doubt you'll carry off the differences realistically. Another great chapter.
Author's Response: Thanks! I will be doing a little re-working of Brian's character as the story goes on. I'm tired of him being a "goody-goody" -- it's time to shake Brian up a little bit. I won't go crazy though, just a few little changes here and there.
You know, when I dealt with losing my mom in 2012, my cousin had me for a little bit actually laughing. And then when grief took over again as I'd known it would, I felt guilty. I sort of got the vibe AJ did when Kevin brought them back to the reality of things. Poor Brian, this is hardest for him. But that's because I think besides Nick/Kevin, he and Nick had the closest bond at one point. And that sort of thing never fully dies.
Love the message he came up with too. So sad yet sweet.
Author's Response: I'm sorry to hear that you lost your mom. I can't even begin to imagine what that must have been like for you. I think everyone feels a little bit guilty when they find themselves having a good time after someone close to them has passed. AJ was definitely feeling that way when Kevin broke up their good time.
I knew it! I always had a bit of doubt because of the word seemingly in your summary. It's there for a reason but at the same time I didn't want to call it out in reviews lol. So the real question is... Where is Nick and WTF happened? Lol
Author's Response: I'm so shocked that you're the first person to have mentioned the word "seemingly". I figured that more people would have picked up on that. Although, perhaps they did and they just refrained from saying anything like you did. You're right, the real question now becomes: Where is Nick? You won't have to wait very long to find out!!
Awwww this chapter was very sweet. I HATED that I fell behind on this story and so it is my current goal to catch up LOL. I really loved how you touched upon the Frick and Frack bond and even how AJ's encroached on it over the years in this chapter. Poor Boys, it's one thing to be told it's not Nick's body. It's another to see him in person.

Anyways, I'm glad that you have taken the time to get caught up on all of the drama. Now, I have to busy myself with the task of reading/responding to your thoughts. I can't wait to read them all! Anyways, I enjoy the whole Brian/Nick/AJ relationship and I will touch on it a bit more as the story progresses.
I love how well thought out this was in explaining just HOW this mistake was made. And why Nick didn't know all this was going on lol. He's in some serious danger and I can't wait to see where this shall go now that he's back in the mix.

Awwww! As someone who used to freaking LOVE the Frick and Frack bond at its strongest I really love that you've worked on bringing it back and it doesn't feel contrived. I want to know more about Brian/Leighanne but that can wait lol.
Author's Response: As someone who still LOVES the Frick and Frack bond and is desperate for it to come back in full swing, I really appreciate your comments. The thought of them being besties again makes me all warm and gooey inside. LOL
Whoa, I'm getting "The Call" vibes LOL. The detective is right, they need to disappear for who knows how long. Lauren knows Nick is alive though...hopefully she doesn't find out and start correcting people online.
Author's Response: LOL - My husband still makes fun of that video! Every time "The Call" comes on and we're in the car, he talks about the video and how Howie morphs into the girl. He finds that part hilarious for some reason.
