lol Only Nick would think about sex in a morgue. LOL

Author's Response: Yes! Probably AJ as well... lol Thank you for reading this story, Cinzia. I appreciate all the good reviews and honest feedback. I will try my best to finish this story as soon as possible, and I hope I will not disappoint you when I write the battle between Michael and Nick (If there would be one, lol) :)

Oh, gosh. I'm already ready with a box of tissues. I've the feeling that somehow I'm gonna need it.

Sixteen years and so much had happened. Most of all, Bree is Brian's daughter so that means that Leighanne was pregnant when Brian died? That's so sad and sweet, somehow.
And Nick. It breaks my heart seeing him still heartbroken for his best friend's death. But we know that Brian was much more than a friend for Nick.

I don't know what made me teared up more: Nick snorting Bree's bag to find if it smelled still like Brian or what he said about his relationship with Brian.

Still, I just love how you write about those two. You have an unique yet realistic way to potray them.

Pat is baaaaaaaaaack!!! Yay!

Wow. I love the fact that Nick is redoing again his trip with Brian, although now he has Bree with him.

Borrowed Time by Pengi Rated: PG-13 [ - ]
Summary:

"Shortly after I was born, the doctors figured out that I was broken. I had a hole in my heart..."

Ever since he was a child, Brian was well aware that he was living on what he's always referred to as "Borrowed Time". He always believed that he'd overcome it, like Batman overcoming darkness. But in 1998, when Brian was on top of the world, the moment came when it all could come crashing down...

You're my hero, you know right?

I love this prologue, the ending was so perfect! lol at Nick! Can't wait for the next update!

Author's Response: I'm glad you like it! Thanks so much for the review!!!

That is what I've been searching since forever.

I loved the explanation behind Brian's joking and being goofy and how it makes him feel like a superhero because he's able to bring a smile or make people feel better just with a simple joke. That is what I love most in Brian and tieing it with an insecurity and a way to fight a fear, it's really great.

Brian and Nick. Do I have to say something more? I love your FrickNFrack! lol And I went all "awwwwww" about the fact that Nick, even not knowing, had chose something so precious for Brian. That's the beauty of their friendship.

Also... lol, I remember the scene from "This Is Us" about Brian and Nick hearing their song in the Walmart (mostly because I read that story thousand of times, along with Something Beautiful).

I guess I don't have to say that I'm waiting for the next chap, right? XD

Author's Response: It was funny as I wrote this story, I forgot that I'd done that in This is Us as well and when I went back I had to laugh because they were even in the same part of the store when they heard it. I realized this is one of those writing quirks everyone was talking about on the discussion boards this week. ... I wanted to tie Brian's humor into the insecurity of his heart disease because most everyone has a reason for being the way they are and the psychology behind really hammy humor like Brian's got is that it stems from some defense mechanism... so that led me into thinking about why Brian was the way he is and it tied in nicely here. ... I love Frick & Frack and I'm excited to use this title for them in the story. It's coming! :)

Oh man, Nick! *shakes her head* The funny fact is that he probably thought over the joke all the time until he got it! lol

Can I say that I loved the business man afraid that Nick could drink? lol

Great chap!

Author's Response: Wouldn't YOU be afraid if you saw Nick attempting to drink after that first encounter with him? LOL Thanks for the review!

When Leighanne was talking about how they would buy an house with an apartment over the garage, I totally imagined the three of them like Monica, Chandler and Joey from Friends. Truth is that Brian and Nick are really like Chandler and Joey XD

And we're starting to see the first signs of something that it isn't right with Brian. Yay! Sorry, I shouldn't be that happy for Brian's drama, right? lol

Author's Response: Haha.. Frick & Frack really do act a lot like Chandler & Joey. I completely forgot about Chandler saying that to Monica about Joey living over their garage. That was a complete accident that the two stories are reminiscent of each other. That's great! LOL I love Chandler. Friends was such a good show. And yes, the first signs of Brian's illness are manifesting themselves. It's so easy to ignore something that comes on slowly like heart conditions do, sometimes the symptoms get chalked off to various circumstances and are compeltely overlooked. I'm trying to capture that sublety of the situation. Thank you again for the review!!!

As soon as I saw the email notification about the date, I stopped working and read the chap. Thank I'm alone in the office!

I love the old-school FrickNfrack! And oh, Nick, I'm sure that Brian won't forget about you.

Now I have to decide which idea is worse: getting out and catch a cold (poor Brian lol) or have to face the deadly eyebrows! XD

Author's Response: Always happy to be a distraction! ;) ...I think facing the Dirty Brow would be worse than a cold, but I'm not sure! Spending time with Nick whining about a cold might be worse than actually having a cold or facing the eyebrows, though! I'm glad you're enjoying the story!! Thanks again for the review.

Why I have the feeling that, at the end of stories, the one that will keep his promise would be Brian and not Nick? XD

Author's Response: Hmm... Nick and Twinkies. Do you think he made it to the end of the night at least? LOL :) Thanks for the review!

I think you lost me when Nick was sleeping cuddled up to Brian. And yes, they do make a cute couple and I would have bought that picture!

I loved Kevin. The way he went in panic when Brian started talking about marriage and his overprotective mode around Brian. (I tend to write him like that too, always trying to get Brian to eat XD)

But, on the serious stuff, I love how Brian is the one starting to have secound thoughts about Lou and whether if he is onlt interesting in how much money they could bring him or if he's really interested in them as human beings. Well, we know the truth but it will be great to finally see how these guys really would face the truth.

Author's Response: The whole time frame in BSB history is so jam packed with things going on - I feel like covering every aspect of it is nearly impossible. Questioning Lou and Johnny is obviously a really important part because of the way everything unfolds but at the same time it's really hard writing either of them in a way that they could be seen as anything but the heartless bastards they ended up turning out to be in this particular time in BSB history. I think writing Lou even slightly likable has been one of the biggest challenges thus far. All I wanna do is make him look like the jerk he is... lol... Kevin was really fun in the part about Brian asking about the marriage. I was trying to figure out how to subtly work in Kevin's almost simultaneous proposal without going over the top and I think this was a good way to kinda nudge his character into that place. And for the record, I definitely wouldn't mind seeing the picture either!! haha Thanks for the review!

I agree with Brian when he said that, as a group, they should have sided together with something regarding their management and not dividing in two groups, one that still have faith in Lou and don't understand where all this resentment is coming from ( and just clearing it as "being childish and immature) and one smaller group that is starting to be suspicious about the reasons behind certain behaviours. I remember an interview that Nick said that it was difficult to side with Brian and accept that Lou and Jhonny weren't the people they thought they were. I was always interested in this period and it's amazing to think what they overcome and still they're together and closer.
Now I'm looking forward to see how the guys will act when things will get rougher with Brian's heart problem.

Oh, and so cute the cousin's scene with Kevin wanting to buy the rings together with Brian. I've a soft spot for their relationship. There aren't so many stories that deepen this relationship.

Great chap as always! ^__^

I'm really looking forward to the

Author's Response: Well you know what they say, a house divided cannot stand... Writing the boys splitting into "sides" over the argument about Lou is something that I needed to do to keep the tension there - and keep Brian questioning himself, and his feelings about Lou at this point in the game, which is why I chose to split them Nick and Brian against the others. Sometimes, especially in younger settings like this, I feel like Nick is kind of an add-on for important discussions, because he's the youngest, his opinion somehow doesn't really solidify Brian's building doubt of Lou. ... I haven't seen/heard any interviews where the Boys discussed this time in their career, to be honest, so I don't know what interview you're speaking of with Nick, but it's interesting that what I invented for neccessity of the story I'm writing was true. Hmm. Thanks so much for the review! I'm glad you're enjoying the story.

lol at Howie replying fast that he didn't want to lose the money. LOL

I feel really bad for Brian, especially because everyone but Nick were like they didn't care if fans would get hurt because of them. In a sense, Brian was right on feeling guilty because they had the chance to avoid situations like that but they didn't. Money really makes people blind and it's sad reading chaps like that because we know that it's the truth and they learned it in the most hard way.

Also, it was so sweet and so Brianish to pray for every and each fan.

And the end... it just makes you wanna hug Brian and reassure him that things are gonna to change. puppy Brian is something that I can't resist!

Great chap as always.

That must have been pretty much scaring. Poor Nick that thought that Brian was having like an heart attack, he's probably literally worrying about his Frick.
And Brian... oh puppy, I can only give you and hug.
And it's interesting how a simple thing like buying a ring turned out to be a revelation about how little money they're collecting even though they're working their asses off and no stop.

Author's Response: It was a challenge when I was storyboarding this part of the story to think of what would be the catalyst that would launch Brian into noticing the issues with Lou and Johnny while still allowing him a shadow of a doubt on their part. It's a thin line, when you have someone you've trusted for so long turn out to be someone that cannot be trusted, because everything in you wants so bad to not have been wrong for so long. It's an interesting balance to try to write out.

It's a scary chapter.
It's scary to think why Nick is acting like that, what other secret he's keeping beside Brian's and what he meant with that question. And it's scary to think that it coul had happened in reality.

It's scary to think what coul happen to Brian between now and two months. It isn't a simple visit, it's his heart and it should be something more important than not screw up the perfect schedule Lou has planned. I wonder what he would do if something like what happened with Nick would happen on stage... and I kinda have the feeling that he would act as the show must go on, forcing Brian to keep going like nothing is wrong.

It's scary to find out that, though all the hard work they're doing, they're getting paid with the minimum. And I think that scariest part in this last is that it shatters completely the image Brian had of their managers whom he believed they were like fathers and in reality they only wanted to have a blind faith so that they could steal away the money without a blink from the guys part.

And it is really sad to see the five of them so stranded that nobody can see how much each of them is struggling. And it's sadder to think that this was the way things were back in the past.

Author's Response: It was a scary chapter. It was a scary chapter to write too because it does skirt on the edge of so many issues. The weird part is the figure of them getting page minimum wage is fairly accurate. One of the articles about Lou and the way he treated the Boys said that when Brian began the law suit in 1998 (in real life I mean obviously), the five Boys combined had made a total of $300,000. That really does break into $60,000 between 1993 and 1998, so it really is less than the figure Brian comes up with in the story because he only allows for the two years. The minimum wage in 1998 in the US was $5.15, and the math comes out to $5.75/hour at the 100 hours a week that Brian figured in the story.
